Rather than attempting to deal with the hectic commercialism of a Christmas
holiday, or attempting to substitute another holiday for it, I opt to bypass
it altogether and focus on the coming New Year.
Although it marks a purely arbitrary demarcation of the timeline, the
celebration of the New Year wonderfully combines two aspects -- personal
reflection upon life past and life to come and public festivity among friends.
And so, I wish everyone an opportunity to enjoy both as the winter season
begins.
