You might also be interested in a book we wrote while at The Rand
Corporation in the late 1960's
Studies in the quality of life; Delphi and decision-making
by Dalkey, Rourke, Lewis and Snyder, Lexington Books, 1972
I still think it is great work after all of these years.
Some later work I did found happiness was a proper mix of novelity,
sociolality and privacy.
