I think the actual issue is whether extreme longevity will change the
situation. consider te following two scenarios:
1) each woman has four children at age twenty (average) and dies
as age forty, men die at forty.
2) each woman has a child every twenty years. Men and women are immortal.
I think the population curves are identical.
conclusion: we have an overpopulation problem to solve in either case.
