I think we should distinguish between the transhumanist organizations
we have right now (ExI, Transcedo, Aleph et al), which are mainly
intended to spread the meme and help us get in touch, and the future
transhuman economic organizations. It is probably a good idea to make
the later independent of the former and start out small and
well-defined.

Exactly. The day people see that transhumanism is *useful* and anybody
can use it, then things will start rolling. But we better manage to
live siccessful first, and make sure it doesn't look like magic,
conspiracy or unachievable genius.

The watch is a good idea, I want one for myself. But there is so much
more: wearable computers, intelligence amplification software, mental
training courses, AI applications, medical technology, life extension
treatments, new media, knowledge management, future analysis, you name
it.
