I read a New Scientist article about half a year ago about a physicist in
England who believes the underpinning of reality is entwined in
"information". For example, he managed to 'teleport' a photon from one
end of a room to another by detroying the wave function at one corner,
and re-creating the wave function (which contains the same information)
at another. Interestingly, the technique destroys the original wave
function.
He's currently trying to formulate the results of quantum mechanics from
the fundamentals of information theory (and, he admits, he's got a long
way to go).
Can anybody think of anything more fundamental than information?
