Sorry, hit too many n's, meant `conative' - it's this damned swelting high
summer heat that does it.

Conation is a psych/lit/phil term for the faculty of choosing between
courses of action - volition, will, like that, or the desire to perform
such a voluntary act. Can `will' be segregated from `cognition'? In some
measure, surely.
