:-) Depends on your perspective. Medicine, and especially surgery, is
a rather brutal craft at present. I read up on surgery before I had a
operation, and I found it empowering to know exactly what it would
involve. The doctors were somewhat annoyed by my questions until they
gave me narcosis. In general, I think it is better to be a power
patient who knows exactly what is going on and how to deal with it
than just a passive recipient of magical medicine.
