I'm in the middle of reading Dr David Deustch's mind-boggling Popperian
book THE FABRIC OF REALITY, which I recommend strongly. I just found a
charming essay at
http://webley.zq.com/tle/le970401-10.html
where Deutsch analyses a Star Trek:NG episode in an exploration of a
curious and galling prejudice, belittling resentment of the young. (I
suspect the general implications of this ep are not really those he draws,
because actually most kids *are* less suited to command decisions, etc,
than most adults - but I detect the justified rage of a former prodigy
nicely shaped into an artful essay.)
