The extropians list actually gets spammed quite regularly, on the order
of once a month. Fortunately, most the time the majordomo software catches
the errant messages and rejects them (bouncing them to me, the list admin,
instead of the subscribers). But since the messages from Adrian Karth
had a unique subject line, they bypassed the main defences. This has also
happened before, but usually I manage to catch it within a day. But this
time my new office network was down and I lost access to my e-mail for
all of Saturday so I didn't even become aware of the problem until yesterday
afternoon. So apologies to all for the inconvenience. This kind of problem
should happen less and less frequently as the server's filter becomes more
robust.
