I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Australian edition of Damien
Broderick's new book "The Spike" and I very highly recommend it. It's the
best popular account of Nanotechnology since Drexler's "Engines of Creation"
in 1986 and the best book on the practical and philosophical implications of
it since Hans Moravec's "Mind Children" in 1988. I should also note that
Damien is a better writer than either of those fine scientists.
Unfortunately the book has not yet been published in less advanced parts of
the world, like the USA, if Damien knows how it can be ordered directly from
the Australian publisher I hope he lets us know.
