You appear to be arguing for the so-called "Cartesian Theater", a
notion thoroughly demolished by Dennett in "Consciousness Explained".

Are you familiar with Dennett's arguments on the subject? I'm not sure
I believe *all* of them, but they are very convincing overall, and
backed with lots of empirical evidence.
