I use Claris Emailer 2.0 on my Mac, and with that the vcard.vcf file just
shows up as an attachment which appears on my desktop.

I'd bet that that person was James Daugherty, right? I was meaning to

Sounds interesting, though. Does the card show up in a frame in the
Netscape window?
