Why should I care whether my descendants are meat or metal? If my
children travel into the galaxy, it doesn't really matter whether they
look like me or not. Will they remember me, tell my stories; do my
ideas live on in them? Will they recreate me in their minds? This
is what I would be concerned with.
The best choice would be to go there myself; but if that doesn't happen
(and the future is a terribly uncertain place) then I see no reason to
root for flesh over the other minds in the world, just because it looks
more like me.
