While I agree with you that gradual uploading is probably the way to go,
I disagree with this somewhat. A living brain is indeed too messy to
upload while it is working (ever tried to repair a motor that is
running?) but a cryonically frozen brain would probably be ideal for
uploading: the process may take as long as it needs to, and can work both
destructively and with very high precision.
