HUGO is interesting, and much, much more powerful than many realizes.
Mapping the genome won't just help medicine and genetics a lot, it will
also subtly affect the way we see ourselves.

Another interesting thing is the dog genome project, which will probably
find the genetic basis for obedience and similar stuff - imagine the
interesting (and horrifying) potential for cross-species comparision (and
hybridization - I want a better sense of smell!).
