You've stumbled across my little encoded message about gender and
power dynamics. The subject is much upon my mind as I will be
teaching a class tomorrow on the violence that is visited upon
persons who do not conform to societal gender roles.
Metaphors rely on universal understanding, and when it comes to
relations between genders, our set of images is mighty limited.
The point here is that I could see no way to reverse the genders and
compe up with an equally cogent metaphor, because the locii of power
get reversed.
