Now we get to see if commercially-available chess
software really can play with the big boys, or was
that last drawn match just luck on the part of the
computer. This time it is the highest rated human,
Kasparov, against the current world champion software,
Deep Junior, running on a quad processor workstation
in a six game match with the carbon unit getting
half a million bucks just for playing and the other
half million being split 60/40 between winner and
loser.
I fear Kasparov will win this match, but I have been
overly pessimistic before. My prediction is 2 wins
for Kasparov and 4 draws. spike
