I was quite disappointed by the Leonids this year, after all the hype. I
stayed up
until 3 AM PST and saw about 70 meteors in 45 minutes. Last year I probably
saw
five times that many under dark skies. There were a few pretty meteors, but
at
times many minutes would go by without any.

I don't know if it was just the bright moon washing out the dimmer meteors,
or
if the predicted rates of 3000-6000 per hour were vast exaggerations.
