What's scary isn't the technology itself, but this quote:
Seeling said each chip costs about $200, and that scanner devices
needed to read the data would be targeted for sale to police,
hospitals, schools and other agencies across the United States.
This implies that the readers will be expensive and restricted to
"agency" use. I'd be happy to have myself chipped, but only if both
the chips and the scanners became reasonably priced and available
to the general public.
