A modern democracy is what allows the majority (of those with power) to run
roughshod over everyone else by suppressing alternative systems. It has
nothing to do with the will of the masses.

If it doesn't work, someone would suggest something better. Everyone who
would get a tangible benefit would start using the better system -- that's
how things work when you are free to make your own choices. The only time
this won't happen is if people are not free to use the better system.
Funnily enough, that's where we are now.
