Imagine that the development of human identical twins was such that the
zygote developed a functional brain and nervous system *before* it
split. That situation would be virtually identical to that which we are
discussing here. Each of the fully developed adult twins would have some
memories of the womb in common with the other, but the two adult twins
would otherwise be entirely different people, with different
personalities, opinions, beliefs and attitudes. Neither twin would
consider himself to be the other.
I really don't see this as a complicated problem, nor do I see it as
"matter of opinion." I believe the answer above should become perfectly
apparent to anyone after little clear thinking, (and with a little less
wishful thinking taken from sci-fi books).
