I don't see why we can't effectively work together for common
goals and still have--and celebrate--distinct differences. I
am an Extropian, and only an Extropian. I do not see any
difference between the value of "self-direction" and the value
of life itself. I do not subscribe to any other transhuman
lists, belong to any other organization, and I have no personal
interest in associating with anyone who isn't fighting both
death AND taxes. But that doesn't in any way mean I can't
stand shoulder-to-shoulder with those other transhumanists who
think differently when our common goals demand it. But nor do
I think making the differences clear and explicit has any real
downside. Indeed, our differences are just as likely to serve
to /attract/ people to one group or the other, to the benefit
of both for our common goals.
