But you seem to be precluding "reintegration". If you have a married
couple and view them as an "integrated" unit, then they may often
have separate experiences, which they relate in stories to each other.
A very closely coupled couple with good communication skills may be
able to effectively "recreate" the experiences of their partner within
their own "identity".
With memory sharing technologies (which I expect to be available long
before uploading) then it is perfectly reasonable to allow for a
"reintegration" of separate experiences. So while copies may diverge,
they can easily remerge. Can you claim then that they have separate
identities?
Don't you think the ExI list would be so much more interesting if there
were two or three xoxes of me monitoring it, taking arbitrary positions
on various topics and interjecting repartee from time to time? Every
Sunday we could reintegrate and become "one" again.
