Right, he'll be essentially the same as me but only for a short time.
The longer the period since the time of the split, the greater the
difference between us will be. In my example above, my emulation's
personality will expand in new and exciting ways as a result of Oprah's
insight and wisdom, while mine will atrophy here in the swamp of
fantastic extropian considerations. Before long we will be entirely
different people, even if we will look like identical twins.
In fact the study of identical twins can give us some insight here.
Identical twins raised in different families have some personality
traits in common, due to genetic influences on personality, but they are
also very much different people as a result of the different
environments in which their personalities developed. And of course this
is true even for identical twins raised in the same family.
