Lee Corbin - Lee writes of "knowing". It is quite probably possible to know
the laws of physics or systems of operation of similar structures. As an
ethical I cannot "know" the entire social world because I only access
personal thoughts and private areas after receiving consent. Since some
people will always deny access and I may well not wish to know all such
things the social world will always contain areas of mystery. Don't forget
that on the other side of the Singularity (at least as regards overtuality -
virtuality may be more interesting) lies "stasis shock" at least as far as
physical "laws" go. For example, I am unlikely to learn anything hugely new
about the structure of the Earth as a planetary body over the next billion
years. It is likely I am going to receive endless surpises in the social
world over the same period of time.
