Last year, I was walking my dad's dog, Jet, we were walking the dogs
around the park's jogging track, in about 25 degrees Fahrenheit, snow on
the ground. I let the dog and it started to run, I ran with it, I got a
Jet assist. It was running, the leash was slack. I ran the fastest
sprint I've ever seen live, the hard part is putting your foot back on
the ground. I was wearing a pair of Adidas Response adiPRENE Torsion
Traxion, they're heavy shoes. The Response TR is a lighter shoe. I
also wear Nike and New Balance running shoes, Allen Edmonds. I've
driven a rental tour bicycle across a hundred yards of slick knobby
ice. Small feats, good memories.
I know some people who wear nice shoes. It helps to have good shoes to
run, but I started distance running in leather sandals with a minute and
a half quarter mile. Later I got some nice shoes.
I'm not a good fisherman, cleaning all the fish caught used to gross me
out.
