RE: War with Iraq?

An analogy:

ON the playground, the U.S. is the biggest kid,
about a head taller than any of the other kids.
Russia, China, India, the UK, and France are
the second tier.

All those countries, including the U.S.
have blow guns, which shoot poison darts that
can make anyone very ill. The US was the
first in 1945 to make a blow gun, and the US
used it on Japan to end World War II.

Today even a number of the smaller kids like
Pakistan, South Africa, and Israel have blow
guns. Some of the biggest kids like Germany
Japan could easily make blowguns and darts,
but have chosen not to do so.

One very nasty and vicious little kid is
probably building one, and *the* big kid,
the U.S., is saying he's going to go knock
Iraq's block off, and bust his blowgun.
Some of the other kids like the UK are saying,
"Yeah, go for it. It has to be done. We'll
help." Other big kids like Germany are
saying, "Don't do it. I really think
that you should *NOT* do it."

Some of the other kids are saying, "You
should perhaps do it, but only if a majority
of us agree". The U.S. says "I appreciate
the support, but I'm going to do it anyway,
and those of you who don't like it, that's
tough. Mind your own business."

It's possible that the US has other motives,
besides breaking Iraq's blowgun. Iraq is
playing with everyone's favorite ball, and
maybe the US will get it, or maybe more
kids can play with it if Iraq gets creamed.

Everyone has motives, though, and most of
them are selfish.

Question: does this analogy seem very biased
to you, a little bit, or hardly at all?
