Let me quibble with that a little. I want to start out in left field
before heading for home plate.
During the years I was on the road constantly I was a well paid
professional in my forties and away from home. That is exactly the group
that the prostitutes hit on when we go into the bars -- heck they even work
the dining rooms.
The reason was simple, we were the group that had the money. I
suspect that same reasoning applies to black on white crime. I know if I was
out to rob someone I would pick on whites more than blacks.
The other reason is that I think any group is more likely to protect
it members if they have attacked someone from outside the group than if they
attacked someone within the group.
