Thanks for taking up the argument, Samantha and Anders. I agree with Eliezer
that if we were to include something like "We value diversity of race,
gender, etc., etc.," we wouldn't necessarily be doing anything valuable.
We'd also have to constantly update the list, and there would be plenty of
discussion about what to include. But if we simply say that we value
diversity -- Anders pointed out why -- then I think we're being entirely
rational.
Also, I believe a pro-diversity bias would lead to a stronger movement, as a
2001 study indicates that diversity and openness attract the brightest
