That would be Canada. Half a century ago, the icy northern plains thundered
to the hoof beats of the mighty ilk as they roamed free from steppe to sea,
anters gleaming, nostrils steaming, girth ungirded. Now they're a sorry
sight, penned into their ilk reserves, forced to drag wagons of jeering
children along the ruts of amusement parks, their sweet velvet gone crusted
and patchy, their noble eyes sunken and weepy in the icy blasts. Forget
about the people dying--what about the wretched ilk, I say!
