Well John, I for one fully respect where you are coming from,
and although it's admittedly odd, there are clearly things
stranger than extropians being religious. I know that it is
sometimes tough being one believer in a hornet's nest of the
unfaithful :-) but I can't think of a single Extropian
who isn't very broadminded about an individual, or who holds
anything against him because of his race, ethnicity, or
religious background.

I'm sure that includes Damien. I thought that Damien's remark
was designed to be taken exactly opposite to how you took it.
"Pace" means peace, and it was out of deference to you that
he added that qualification. In other words, what he doing
was attempting to make sure that you (and others) knew that
he was not including you in the generalization, even though
it might otherwise appear logically as if he were.

It was in absolutely no way sarcastic. I think that you
probably do owe him an apology.
