Extropes,

As long as the benefits of cloning remain
abstract--mere potentialities--the opposition will
maintain strength. As tangible therapies--ie real
results--start to rescue real humans from real
health-related distress, the opposition will wither,
rapidly. In no time at all, mainstream opposition
will be hard to remember, and all that will remain
will be a cultural remnant, a museum piece example of
the memetic persistence of tribal superstition.

The article at the link shown below suggests that we
may soon see this state of affairs. Also, I don't
know whether it is just my subjective impression, but
it feels as if the research has moved from the "Can we
do this?, Wow!, yes, we can!" stage, to the "Tissue
cloning? Yeah, sure, what tissue do you need?" stage.

In any event, against the juggernaut of tech progress
carrying us to the future, the theocratic ululation
for a return to the dark ages has its work cut out for
it.

Or, as my sister says:

      "Science works, religion doesn't."

Children's Hospital Boston researchers use therapeutic
cloning to create functional tissue in cows

Cloned cells organize into muscle, heart and kidney
tissue; animals show no rejection
