That is a mild understatement.
The minimum time for network wide infection for a properly designed
worm is listed as 15 seconds -- much faster than humans could respond
to it. Harvest millions of hard drives for CC #'s and start charging
them $10.00 to be sent to your Swiss Bank Account. Retire the next day
while the world wakes up to see the smoking ruins of its IT house
of cards.
I hope it happens soon -- then people will wake up and do something
about the problem before a rogue AI can be developed to take advantage
of the situation.
The paper is a must-read for anyone developing software who doesn't
normally worry about security.
