What's the point of berserkers? Terminating cultures about to go
exponential, right? I can't think of any other reason for them to exist.

Given the detection problem and decision latency, it would seem much
better to send brittle (self-limiting) self-rep systems to any system
within your lightcone, and lurk for emergence of a potentially expansive
culture in that local system. When they get too uppity, you whack them.
Or, you subtly tweak them that they don't get uppity.

The problem with this is why the berserker dispatch origin never got
exponential itself. (Miracles do happen).

Either way round, there are no berserkers here, we haven't reached the
threshold, or they're very subtle.
