lines of demarcation

I have search the extropian list for information
regarding lines of demarcation and found none.

Being nice and putting a "positive" spin on things is
not a difficult task. If you wish to win friends and
be
popular, being nice and funny is the best way to do
it.

I would like to be happy and be nice all the time, but
the more I read, and the more I observe, the more I
find
that what people say and what people do, rarely
coincides. Many positive ideas have been developed and

documented, but very few have been successfully
deployed. When I follow their implementations I have
found that the root of the problem is humanity.
Short of natural disasters, I am sorry to say that
we are the cause of most of our troubles, i.e., wars,
poverty, hunger, natural resource depletion,
green house effect... etc...

An idea that I have firmly held on to that has been
successful (at least most of the time) is the court
of law. An imaginary world bound by a set of rules
that all participating members agree upon, in which
two opposing parties get to logically argue based on
facts and observations, and a group of people
unrelated
to the parties observe and judge. This concept is
relevant to everything I do (hopefully when I don't do
it, people would point it out, as I am not perfect).

We can choose to talk about things without ever
crossing
the offensive line, like we do everyday at work, at
home
and with our friends. Or we can choose to cross the
line
by talking on an intelligent forum and hope to explore

all the possibilities of any futuristic idea.

One day some of these issues will come up, and if a
court of law exists in the future, someone will have
to
write rules for these issues down -- maybe the
extropian
mailing list will have something to contribute.

People may hate me for posting this but don't worry I
am
use to hate mail. I have enough friends and family who
think well enough of me to soothe the scars caused by
a
violent mail box.

Besides if you want to change the world, for the
better,
you have to be tough...
