Yep, I'm aware that the theorists and the simulation people
are hard at work trying to make things consistent with the
current observations.
Perhaps the claims for the damage caused by hypernovas
or their statistical abundance w.r.t. causing 100 million
year extenctions is overblown. Time will tell.
