Adapative evolution results from diversity (from mutation)
plus selection. Embryo screening just improves the selection
process - mutation isn't affected at all. There's no particular
reason that selection for good traits would limit the target
only to one ideal environment, anymore than any other selection.
I agree embryo screening for "good" genes is the way to go.
It's unlikely to create trouble (unlike reproductive cloning)
and will be practical very soon. There's also a slippery
slope to sensible behavior - soon in vitro fertilizerers will
be able to determine such genetics of children. Will society
force them to bear the children expected to be inferior? I
don't see it.
