I don't think the procedure should be performed on humans until we've
done everything reasonable to ensure that it's safe and effective.

Yes.

I'd draw it the same place I draw it for myself. Since we can't get
the subject's consent, we have to minimze the risk. We can't guarantee
there's no risk, but without taking such chances there won't be
advancement.
