The settlements are pretty straightforward ethnic cleansing.
Land is seized under various pretexts, the Palestinian inhabitants
evicted, and Israelis brought in. The Israeli government supports
the settlement effort in a variety of ways, so, yes, the "cleanser Israelis"
clearly do have substantial influence. While border settlements don't imply
a desire to cleanse all Palestine, the West Bank is now literally covered
with settlements and those settlements make no sense unless the inhabitants
intend for all of Palestine to become Israeli.

More on the other side does not excuse some on the Israeli side. And, IMO,
it's the fact that the settlers have governmental support which is the primary
reason for the radicalization of the Palestinians. A reasonable Palestinian
would conclude the Israeli government is supporting a deliberate attempt to
remove Palestinians from most of the occupied territories. Under the
circumstances, I'm not surprised they get very hostile. Regardless of
propaganda, most people would rather just be left alone, and the militants
would get little support if it didn't look liike the normal people will get
evicted eventually anyway. The Palestinians tolerated occupation for
20 years.

Ethnic cleansing is not mass murder, it's mass eviction.
