Isn't it just as, or, more important, to 'adapt the technology to the
people'? Your question seems to assume that technology is forced on
the individual.
The individual *chooses* (building it, if possible, or
buying/accepting it, if available) of what is and what is not useful
to advance one's life, furthering one's goals.
