Look again, Spike. Right after the line ".. soon, Vega's gonna set"
there is a cut. During the cut, it is implied that Ellie spent some
time contacting Ian Broderick in Australia, and getting him the
information needed to have his team track in on the signal. After the
cut Ian tells Ellie that they have the signal, and they have tracked it
back to Vega, then they get to the end of the 101 group. Seems to me
the time period could be fine.
