This is really irrelevant, since ALL diseases behave like this. If they
did not, then the human race would never evolve resistance to any
disease. Keep in mind that the 'HIV positive' means only that they test
positive for the HIV antibody, NOT the actual virus. The 15% represent
those who have successfully mounted a resistance to HIV, representing
those with either a genetic resistance or were only exposed to a small
number of the virus.

There are now at least three variants to the HIV virus, and most
antibody tests only detect one. People who test negative with one test
do not necessarily not have HIV, they just don't have the specific
antibodies for the type the test detects.

HHV is a virus which is normally suppressed by the human immune system.
When HIV compromises that immune system, this gives HHV the opening it
needs to do what it does. It is true that working to suppress the HHV is
a viable treatment for AIDS patients to treat AIDS related syndrome, but
does absolutely NOTHING to help boost the patients immune system.

As do a goodly percentage of those exposed to smallpox, cold, flu, and
many other viral diseases. This doesn't mean that smallpox virus doesn't
cause smallpox.
