This is conspiracy stuff on the level of "evolution is an unproven theory"
and "the moon landings were fake." There may be a few minor questions here
and there, but there have been major amounts of discover about exactly how
this retrovirus works and produces the symptoms of the disease.

HIV antibody tests are remarkably accurate. False positives and false
negatives are not rare enough to state that there is not a one-to-one
correlation. People with HIV get AIDS. People with AIDS have HIV. People
without HIV don't get AIDS. People without AIDS symptoms don't have HIV.

One "fact" that confuses these people is that people can live so long with
HIV before getting AIDS. This does not mean they aren't affected. Their
symptoms, immune response and T-cell counts are affected by HIV. There is a
threshold where they are considered to be free of the full-blown disease.
But even before that threshold is reached, the same biochemistry and
pathology of the disease can be seen starting to work its destruction. It
just has to grow to a high enough level before full-blown disease symptoms
start to manifest. This does not mean they aren't infected and aren't
suffering from the disease. It simply means that modern medicines are
working better than ever before to keep these people alive and healthy.

Saying that HIV doesn't cause AIDS is like saying single celled cancers
don't grow into tumors. People can live indefinitely with single cells of
cancer and may or may not develop the full-blown disease. But the
progression from a single cell to a fatal mass is clear and known.
Likewise, the spread of the HIV virus to more and more immune cells,
followed by a dearth of T-cells, followed by a failure of the immune system
is a well-known and consistent progression. There is no conspiracy here.
