This is what I love about this list, I never know what I'm going to learn.
Just to be clear, I wasn't trying to be rude, I am (painfully) learning
Arabic, but have no real interest in the religion, so I was trying to be
precise.

To be very precise, it is a medieval latin derivative of the Arabic
"al-kuhl" learned from Muslim scholars during medieval Europe (the Islamic
renaissance).
