You're suggesting that without US training, the terrorists might not have
attempted brazen acts (like crashing airliners into buildings); and that
this is a good thing, because it helped expose them. But the brazen acts
they did attempt were a pretty bad thing as bad things go; over 3000 dead in
NYC. Doesn't this suggest that encouraging terrorists to do something brazen
is a woefully misguided way of exposing them? In any case, it's hardly as if
bin Laden et al needed exposing; their involvement in terrrorist attacks pre
9-11 is well documented and their locations and training camps well known.
