Maybe the way forward is a metameta debate? The problem is that we end
up in semantics while really trying to say something relevant about
selfhood. So the goal should maybe to start a discussion about in what
ways we could settle such questions. Is it only an issue of getting
everybody to agree on the same semantics, and then everything will be
clear, or could there be experiments or other procedures to settle
selfhood issues?
BTW, the subject line is all wrong by now and I suggest potential
replies should have another heading (the current subject line is kept in
this post to make the indexing software link it to Harvey's).
