It will be interesting to see how far this degree will take anyone. Could be
that by the time first-year students get degrees in bioinformatics,
computational biology will no longer need that kind of special knowledge since
all that data processing can be accomplished automatically by intelligent
agents. Managing data is also a primary concern of Paul Horn (see his
"autonomic computing" manifesto). Don't you think bioinformatics should be
managed by machines?

Useless hypotheses, etc.:

analog computing, cultural relativism, GAC, Cyc, Eliza, cryonics, individual
uniqueness, ego, human values, scientific relinquishment

We move into a better future in proportion as science displaces superstition.
