That is true, but the very act of looking at the coin to see if it was
flipped will cause it to be flipped, so whenever you look at ("observe") a
coin it will appear to be flipped, regardless of whether your partner has
flipped their coin. Actually, there are ways to tell if the coins have
been flipped without observing them first, but that involves them being in
the same location.
