I think it's very unlikely the Chinese would take him. The place mentioned
is the ling narrow bit of land at the extreme east end of Afghanistan. As
well as bordering on China it also gives access to Pakistan and Tadjikistan>
It's remote, very hard to get to in numbers but with various escape routes
