This is the text of my endorsement of the "In
Defense of Freedom" declaration.
I also wish to thank Greg Burch for once again
expressing things I hadn't put into words
better than I could have.

I was deeply moved by tonight's speech by our President.
He mentioned that some of the actions taken might never
be revealed. I can imagine many covert or clandestine
operations which might be called for.
I can also see that there are many such operations
which might _not_ be called for.
It is my fervent hope that our actions, and those of
our allies, do not cross that bright line.
I also hope that in the course of this protracted
engagement, a fresh look will be taken at the facts
regarding one of the primary means of funding global-
scale terrorism: the trade in drugs declared illegal.
I pity all drug abusers. I hate the fact that the
current scheme of prohibition lines the pockets
of unsavory scofflaws and killers.
We can't afford to split our resources during this time
of crisis. Defeating terrorism is the paramount priority.
It is obvious that if the _profit in illegal drugs_ is
cut to nothing, those who seek to finance terror
will have a much harder time doing so.
God bless us all.
